SA Cocktail Week launches in Cape Town

SA Cocktail Week (SACW) kicked off last Friday and brought with it The Mother City’s very first ten day long cocktail celebration. This annual festival aims to showcase South Africa’s dynamic cocktail scene for the first time ever from 28 October until 6 November 2016. The first edition of SACW hosts 2 main events, along with many smaller ones taking place throughout the week at participating venues such as Orphanage, Café Mojito and The Grand Daddy Hotel.

The Grand Opening rocked the Cape Quarter from 7pm on 28 October with pop-up cocktail bars by World Class, Cape Town Gin Company, The Duchess and Pernod Ricard. Guests were welcomed with complimentary cocktail parties and music by some of Cape Town’s finest house DJs, Skam and Winnie Deep. Bootlegger Coffee Company looked after those with munchies by serving up delicious pizzas and burgers.

To bid farewell to this amazing celebration A Toast to Summer is the theme to the official closing party which will take place at The Bank, 54 Queen Victoria Street, from 2pm until 9pm. Once again, festival goers can expect to be greeted with a complimentary welcome cocktail as they step into another world where the sound of shakers and the smell of fruit will drive you all the way to the top floor for a signature Mokai Cocktail in their exclusive Mokai lounge. You can also expect to see Woodstock Gin Company & World Class bringing back everyone’s favourites from the first night. BOS ice tea will also be launching their new cocktail range on the day, and don’t forget to try out The Harald’s bar. You can also expect to hear great live DJs playing familiar sounds.

Apart from the two main events, festival goers are encouraged to miss that afternoon traffic and go try any of our signature cocktails which will be served up at all our participating venues including, Cabrito, Buena Vista and The Park Inn by Radisson Foreshore. It doesn’t end there; SACW feature events include a round of sunset golf at The Metropolitan Golf Club, Pink Drinks on The Deck, The Fire & Ice Cocktail Party where complimentary welcome cocktails will await them at each venue.

To make sure all guests get home safely, SACW has partnered with Uber to give all wrist band holders R150 off their first Uber ride with the code SACW2016. Interested patrons should have a look at the SACW social media pages to get more details and lists of all the events, participating venues and deals, such as 10% off a night’s stay at The Park Inn Hotel on a B&B basis, using their wrist band.

Wrist bands were R190 and available via Computicket but are no longer available and entry for the Official Closing Party will be R60 at the door. A percentage of proceeds from SA Cocktail Week benefits Hands of Hope Children Centre. For more information on SACW people can go to www.sacocktailweek.co.za.
